The Hero Route - Cycling for the first steps without aid
On 11 September 2021, the founder of the charitable organization “Prvi Korak” (The First Step) Bojan Kacavenda and his brother Zoran Kacavenda will start their bicycle ride from Paris to Novi Sad called “The Hero Route”, organized in support of Mihajlo Kacavenda and all children who live with the difficulties caused by premature birth and cerebral palsy. The brothers decided to show that the effort made in taking this route is nothing compared to the pain, stress and problems that these children struggle with every day, hoping that they will one day be able to walk through life independently, with a smile on their face.
Why The Hero Route?
Why The Hero Route?
The idea to organize the charity bicycle ride came from the desire to demonstrate that ordinary people, parents, can do anything and are able to complete at least a part of the arduous journey that our little heroes, prematurely born babies and children with developmental difficulties go through.
We wish to encourage as many people and organizations as possible to support us on this journey and help the little heroes by helping the procurement of the first automated rehabilitation system in Serbia “LokomatPro” for which we need 333,000 EUR. The rehabilitation system enables children with gait and movement difficulties caused by cerebral, neurological, spinal, muscular or bone diseases to recover much faster and more successfully, compared to the traditional methods with no use of machines. On average, one child who has a mild form of cerebral palsy requires at least two ten-day therapies on a LokomatPro machine per year, but one therapy abroad costs the parents of these little heroes approximately 60,000 EUR.
We would like to show that their struggle is the struggle of all of us.
Our tour
Our goal
The ultimate goal of this charitable bicycle tour is to raise funds for the purchase of a special robotic system for rehabilitation “Lokomat Pro” which would be donated by the charitable organization “Prvi Korak” to the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina.
It would provide the disabled children in Serbia with modern rehabilitation free of charge, as well as facilitating and accelerating their recovery.
